Title: Seminar on "Relational Database Management Systems"
Description: The seminar on Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) is organized to help SYBCA students understand the basic concepts of relational databases and their importance in modern computer applications. RDBMS is widely used to store, organize, and manage data in many real-life systems such as banking, libraries, hospitals, and online shopping platforms. This seminar will cover important topics such as relational database structure, tables, keys, schemas, normalization, and SQL commands. Students will learn how data is stored in tables and how SQL is used to create, update, and retrieve data. The session will include simple examples and demonstrations to help students understand how relational databases work in real-world applications. The seminar is designed to strengthen students' understanding of database concepts that are part of the SYBCA DBMS syllabus and prepare them for academic exams as well as practical applications.
Event Objective: 1. To introduce SYBCA students to the basic concepts of Relational Database Management Systems. 2. To explain the structure of relational databases such as tables, rows, and columns. 3. To understand the importance of keys and relationships in relational databases. 4. To provide knowledge about basic SQL commands (DDL, DML). 5. To explain relational operations such as selection, projection, and joins. 6. To introduce normalization and its role in reducing data redundancy. 7. To help students understand real-life applications of RDBMS. 8. To improve students' practical understanding of database usage.
Event Outcome: 1. Understand the basic concepts of Relational Database Management Systems. 2. Identify different components of relational databases such as tables, fields, and records. 3. Understand different types of keys used in relational databases. 4. Write simple SQL queries to create tables and insert data. 5. Perform basic data retrieval using SQL SELECT statements. 6. Understand the concept of normalization and its benefits. 7. Apply RDBMS concepts in academic practicals and projects. 8. Gain confidence in handling database-related tasks.
